What is ADHD?

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a common neurodevelopmental disorder that affects attention, concentration, impulse control, and executive functioning. ADHD can impact academic performance, work, relationships, and everyday responsibilities in both children and adults.

At North Alabama Family Psychiatry & Counseling, ADHD evaluations begin with a comprehensive psychiatric assessment that includes a detailed clinical history, review of symptoms, and, when appropriate, objective cognitive testing. We use Creyos®, an FDA-registered computerized cognitive assessment, as one tool to help evaluate attention and cognitive functioning. Creyos supports—but does not replace—a thorough clinical evaluation performed by one of our experienced psychiatric providers.
