Dr. Anika Wilson is a double board-certified psychiatrist specializing in the evaluation and treatment of children, adolescents, and adults. She has been certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) in General Psychiatry since 2008 and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry since 2009. Since entering private practice in Madison, Alabama, in 2008, Dr. Wilson has been dedicated to providing exceptional psychiatric care to individuals and families throughout North Alabama and the Tennessee Valley.
Dr. Wilson earned her medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine before completing a Pediatrics internship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). She then completed a combined residency in General Psychiatry and fellowship in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at UAB, where she received comprehensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric disorders across the lifespan.
Following her training, Dr. Wilson joined Alabama Psychiatric Services, where she practiced from 2008 to 2015 and developed extensive experience caring for children, adolescents, adults, and families. In 2015, she co-founded North Alabama Family Psychiatry & Counseling and now serves as its Chief Medical Officer. She leads a collaborative psychiatric practice with experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNP-BCs), focused on improving access to high-quality psychiatric care throughout North Alabama and the Tennessee Valley.
Dr. Wilson provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and treatment for a broad range of psychiatric conditions, including attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), autism spectrum disorder, trauma-related disorders, and other behavioral and emotional conditions affecting patients across the lifespan. She believes every patient deserves an individualized treatment plan based on thoughtful evaluation, clinical expertise, and the latest evidence-based psychiatric practices.
In 2019, Dr. Wilson expanded the practice by launching TMS of North Alabama, bringing NeuroStar® Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) to the region. As Medical Director of the TMS program, she oversees a well-established TMS program that provides advanced, non-invasive treatment for eligible adolescents and adults with treatment-resistant depression and adults with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
Known for her thoughtful, collaborative approach, Dr. Wilson believes that exceptional psychiatric care begins with listening. She partners closely with patients and their families to develop personalized treatment plans that promote long-term mental health, resilience, and improved quality of life.
